Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 November 2026
Dempster & Hill Electrical (“we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and share personal information through this website, dempsterandhill.co.nz, in line with the Privacy Act 2020 and its Information Privacy Principles.
Information we collect
We only collect personal information that we need to respond to you and run our business. This includes:
- Contact form details: your name, email address, phone number (if you choose to give it) and the message you send us.
- Calls and emails: anything you tell us when you phone or email us directly.
- Website usage information: information collected automatically by Google Analytics and Google reCAPTCHA, described below. This includes your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit and how you got to our site.
How we use your information
We use your personal information to:
- respond to your enquiry and provide quotes and electrical services
- contact you about work we are doing or have done for you
- protect our website from spam and abuse
- understand how people use our website so we can improve it
- meet our legal and regulatory obligations, for example electrical certification records.
We will not sell your personal information or use it for unrelated marketing without your consent.
Contact form
When you submit our contact form, your details are emailed to our office and a copy is stored securely in our website’s database so that no enquiry is lost. Our website emails are delivered through Brevo, an email delivery service. We use these details only to deal with your enquiry.
Google reCAPTCHA
Our contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA v3, which helps us tell the difference between real people and automated spam. reCAPTCHA collects information such as your IP address, browser details and how you interact with the page, and sends it to Google for analysis. Its use is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Google Terms of Service.
Google Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics to see how visitors find and use our website, such as which pages are most popular. Google Analytics uses cookies, which are small text files stored on your device, and collects information such as your IP address, device, browser, location (to city level) and the pages you view. We use this information in summary form only and do not use it to identify you.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The website will still work if you do.
Other third-party services
Our website uses Google Fonts, and our Contact page shows an embedded Google Map. When these load, your browser connects to Google, which receives your IP address. Links to other websites, such as our Facebook page, are covered by those websites’ own privacy policies.
Storage, security and overseas disclosure
We take reasonable steps to keep your personal information secure and protect it from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Some of the service providers named in this policy, including Google and Brevo, store information on servers outside New Zealand. Where we use overseas providers, we rely on them to protect your information in a way that, overall, provides comparable safeguards to those in the Privacy Act 2020.
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as long as the law requires, and then delete or destroy it securely.
Accessing and correcting your information
You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you and to ask us to correct it if you think it is wrong. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will respond within 20 working days, and we may need to confirm your identity first.
